Langford’s First Climate Action Plan is Here! Did we get it right?

The City of Langford is pleased to present the draft of its first-ever Climate Action Plan (CAP). The Plan identifies 59 actions to reduce GHG emissions and prepare Langford for climate-related hazards such as extreme heat, wildfires, and flooding. The proposed actions also support cleaner and more efficient transportation, more comfortable and energy-efficient buildings, healthier neighbourhoods, protected natural areas, and a strong local economy.

The CAP was developed through community engagement and collaboration with more than 19 partner organizations, including emergency management professionals, engineers, planning consultants, infrastructure and service providers, public health professionals, and community organizations. More than 233 responses from residents and businesses through a community survey were also considered.

Council received a presentation on the proposed Climate Action Plan on August 17, 2026. Click here to watch a recording of the presentation.

Please review the draft Plan and let us know: based on your understanding of climate action in Langford and the proposed actions, is there anything else you would add?

Please email Planning@Langford.ca if you have any questions. Public commentary is available until 11:59 p.m. on September 9, 2026.
