Help shape the future of waste collection in Langford!
As Langford continues to grow, the City is exploring options to improve how waste is managed across the community. In recent years, residents and visitors have raised concerns about overflowing public garbage cans, illegal dumping, wildlife attraction, and the overall impact of waste collection on neighbourhoods, roads, and the environment.
Currently, residential garbage and organics collection in Langford is managed through private subscription services. Council has directed staff to explore whether a more coordinated, city‑wide approach could better support affordability, environmental protection, and consistent service for all households.
One option being explored is a single, municipally‑contracted curbside garbage and organics collection service for single family homes, duplexes, and small stratas only. No decisions have been made on the potential frequency of a curbside collection program.
This survey is an important part of that exploration. We are seeking your feedback on your current waste collection service, your priorities related to cost and level of service, and your perspectives on a potential City‑contracted program.
Your input, combined with technical research and comparisons with other communities, will help inform Council’s future decisions.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views.

Help shape the future of waste collection in Langford!
The City of Langford is exploring a shift to a single, City-contracted service provider for curbside garbage and organics (food and yard waste) collection for single family homes, duplexes, and small stratas only.
The goals for this transition are to:
Support affordability for residents.
Ensure every home has proper waste pickup to help stop the misuse of public garbage cans and illegal dumping.
Reduce traffic, noise, and environmental impacts by having fewer collection trucks driving through our neighbourhoods.
We want to hear from you! Please take a moment to let us know what is most important to you when it comes to curb-side residential garbage collection. We are eager to understand your preferences, including monthly costs, ideal bin sizes, pickup frequency, and any additional services you would like, such as yard waste or large-item pickups.
Your feedback, combined with ongoing research into how other communities manage waste, will directly guide Langford's next steps. Thank you for your time!
