The proposed Housing Strategy will guide how the City can support the types of housing most needed in the community.
The draft Strategy features 31 specific actions to advance the City's housing objectives. The development process included workshops with representatives from the non-profit housing, real estate, and local development sectors. Over 190 responses from a community survey were also considered.
Council received a presentation on the proposed Housing Strategy on August 17, 2026. Click here to watch a recording of the presentation.
We encourage everyone to review the draft strategy and provide your input: based on your understanding of housing needs in Langford and the proposed actions, is there anything else you would add?

The City of Langford is making a plan to address housing challenges in the community. At the same time, the City is updating how it secures contributions from developers toward affordable housing and community amenities like recreational facilities, public plazas, libraries, and daycares so the requirements apply to all new development, and the rules match new provincial legislation.
Your feedback will help the City understand:
Which community amenities are the most important to build as the community grows.
The community’s priorities for new housing.
The types of housing people need most (for example, apartments, larger family-homes, seniors’ housing, or affordable rental housing).
Which people or groups don’t have enough good housing options right now.
Survey closes end of day, May 3, 2026.
